✦ Hold the looped arms of your tongue scraper in each hand.
✦ Place the horseshoe at the back of your tongue and apply light pressure.
✦ Pull the scraper forward, observe the disgustingly satisfying fruits of your labor.

Normal Cleaning: After every use rinse all residue off with water, store in dry place. Occasionally wash with soap and water.

✦ Vinegar & Baking Soda: Soak your scraper in white vinegar for 45 minutes, then use a soft cloth with baking soda to polish the patina away.
✦ Lemon Juice & Baking Soda: coat your scraper with lemon juice and let it sit for 10-20 minutes, polish with a soft cloth and baking soda.
✦ Boil it: If none of the cleaners we’ve suggested work, put one cup of vinegar, one tablespoon of salt and three or four cups into a large pot and bring to a boil. Put your item in the pot and boil it till the tarnish falls off the item. It may need more scrubbing when you pull it out of the pot, but you’ll need less elbow grease to get the shine back.
Keep your tongue scraper patina free for longer by giving it a thin coat of oil after you clean it with soap.

You can simply use your hands or to get a more graceful bend, find a spice bottle, large marker or other rounded item that is roughly the width of your child's tongue and bend the working surface of the tongue scraper around it.

If you have a very strong gag reflex or are pregnant (that preggo gag reflex is no joke!) we recommend starting your first scrape from the front 1/4th of your tongue then gently progressing backwards with each following drag until it becomes too much.
